McPherson Center for Health is pleased to welcome Tanner Wealand who is now serving as Chief Financial Officer. Wealand comes to McPherson from Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he served as System Financial Controller, overseeing financial operations for the hospital and health system affiliates.
Prior to Hutchinson, Wealand served as Chief Financial Officer for Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, Kansas, Financial Controller for Memorial Health System in Abilene, Kansas, and in other financial leadership positions in the business sector prior to the transition to healthcare.
Wealand has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Washburn University in Topeka.
In addition to his corporate experience, Wealand currently serves as a Medical Service Corps officer in the Air Force Reserve out of McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. He is also active in the Kansas Sunflower Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association Board of Directors, soon to serve as president.
Wealand steps into this role replacing Lew Newberry, current president and CEO who came to McPherson in January of 2022 as Chief Financial Officer and accepted the CEO role last September. “We are so fortunate and pleased to have Tanner join our team at this time,” Newberry said. “His financial leadership experience aligns perfectly with our goals as an organization. Tanner completes our expanded leadership team which better supports our departmental structure. We are excited for the strengths he brings to this critical position on our team.”
Wealand has lived in Kansas most of his life, growing up in Topeka. He met his wife Beth, who is from Clay Center, at Washburn University. They have two sons ages 11 and 9, and a daughter who is 5.

Wealand began serving in this role on March 20.
